During the housing bubble burst in early 2000, many people lost jobs. I was one of them. I had spent many years being a skeptic optimist and losing my job really helped me fall into a true pessimistic attitude. Before the burst, I was known to always look at the brighter side of life, but losing my job, money, and possessions helped me flip to the dark side very quickly.
I Fell To The Darkside
I lost faith in the goodness of life. I started going hungry which lead me to depression and with very little hope for the future. Man, I am glad those dark days are behind me. Now when I look back on them, I am glad that I found guidance and other things that helped me make it through and make myself better.
One of the things that I found that helped me was binaural-beat hypnotic audios. I was skeptic about them, but also curious. So, I decided to conduct my own experiments using them.
I sold one of my last possessions to get the money to buy a collection of self-hypnotic audios, found an old notebook, my ear buds, and downloaded the audios to my computer.
I decided to use each audio, one at a time, for 21 days and journal my experiences from throughout the day each night after listening to them.
At first, there was not any noticeable changes, but by the middle of the second week or a little later, I actually noticed there was some changes happening in my daily routine.
My Binaural Beat Experiment Began
I started out with releasing negative thoughts and focusing on more positive things. By the end of the trial, I found that I had a better outlook on where I was in life. I realized that I was making positive changes and things were getting better.

The next one I tried was about finding your purpose in life. I didn’t have the slightest idea what my purpose in life was. I had always been a carpenter and since no one was buying or building houses, then it seemed that purpose was out the window.
I found my purpose and it is excatly where you are now. My purpose is to help others learn how to make life more fun and enjoyable. One way to do that is to find yourself a love object. You can read the story about mine by checking out this earlier post.
By the end of the experiment, I was more clear on my purpose and I realized that it was something I had been called to my entire life. Before I did the experiment, I always suppressed my true calling thinking it was silly or dumb. Now, I embrace my calling because I have the confidence to pursue it.
The third one I did was on boosting self-confidence. The first experiment had helped me find things about myself that were positive, the second helped me welcome my purpose, and the third gave me the confidence to act on it. I was really impressed with my results.
I went through many of the other audios with the same scientific approach and the last one I decided to try was to quit smoking cigarettes. This one I tried from a different approach than all the others. This time I didn’t want to get the results promised by the binaural beat audio. I wondered if it could force me to quit.
I did the experiment for 21 days and on the 21st day I was still a smoker. I came to the conclusion that these audios only worked if you really wanted the desired outcome. I decided that they were just a placebo that made you see what you wanted to see or do what you wanted to do.

Something Happened That Made Me A Believer

The first week after the experiment, I started to not like the flavor of my favorite brand of cigarettes so I switched to menthol. The second week came and every time I lite up one, all I could think about was how nasty they were and how gross the ash tray smelled.
Before the third week was over, I was no longer smoking and I turned to nicotine supplements like Nicorette to calm my cravings, but there was no way I was going to ever put another butt in my month. That was one of the images that came to my mind every time I smoked: me putting a hairy, smelly, nasty butt in my mouth.
At first, I didn’t notice what was happening. It wasn’t until I started reading through my notebook that I noticed that quitting smoking had actually begun one week after completing the self-hypnosis audio. Once I did notice, I was convinced that the audios truly did work. I didn’t intend to quit smoking three weeks earlier, but I was.

I found that the audios that contained the binaural beats were more effective than the ones without the beats, but the regular hypnosis ones did work for me too. Just not as fast. Give either a try, but if you want fast results, then pick the ones that contain binaural beats along with the hypnosis.
Time to Take Action
Through my experiments, I found that you don’t have to think about what you want to change all day every day. You can just listen to the audios once a day for almost a month and you are almost guaranteed success. With intention, I was able to see changes within 3 weeks. Without intention, I still saw results within 6 weeks. You can do it too.
